Effective Date: Dec 15, 2025
Last Updated: Dec 15, 2025
Introduction
Welcome to the Smart! App, provided by Okinawa SMART ID LLC ("SMART ID," "we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Privacy Policy. This Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information that you provide through the SMART! App ("App").
Scope of this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected through the SMART! App. It does not apply to information collected by any third parties or through any websites, products, or services not operated by us. By downloading or using the Open! App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
A. Non-Personal Information
The SMART! App uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) scanning to detect your proximity to SMART ID Stations in participating stores or facilities. Although the App requests "Location" permission on Android devices, we do not collect or store any GPS-based location data. Instead, BLE scanning is classified under "location services" by the Android operating system for privacy protection reasons.
B. Usage Data
We may collect limited, anonymized usage data (e.g., logs of when a notification was shown or tapped) to improve the reliability and user experience of the App. This data does not include personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or physical location.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Notification Services: We use BLE scanning to trigger notifications when you are near a SMART ID Station, providing you with relevant content such as promotions or store information.
- App Improvement: We analyze anonymized usage data to identify potential issues and enhance App features and performance.
- Customer Support: We may use anonymized usage or error logs to respond to technical support requests.
3. Disclosure of Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share anonymized usage data with third-party service providers who assist us with analytics or technical support. All such third parties are bound by contractual obligations to keep information confidential and to use it only for the purposes of providing services to Okinawa SMART ID LLC.
4. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect the information we collect. Although we strive to ensure the security of our systems, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
5. Children's Privacy
The SMART! App is not directed toward children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, please contact us so we can delete the information as soon as possible.
6. Data Retention
We retain anonymized usage data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or as required by law.
7. Your Choices
- Location Permission (BLE Scanning): You can revoke the App's location permission at any time in your Android device settings, although doing so may limit or disable notification functionality.
- Uninstalling the App: If you wish to stop all data collection and usage, you may uninstall the SMART! App from your device.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document, and in some cases, we may provide additional notice. Your continued use of the App after any modifications indicates your acceptance of those changes.
